Now, IIT council for Single Entrance



The IIT council, the highest decision making body of the premier institutes, has proposed to implement single entrance exam for all engineering institutes like IITs, Nits and other engineering colleges, in the country from 2013.

Union human resource development minister Kapil Sibal stated that the proposak will be put before the central Advisory Board of Education Committee (the highest advisory body on education) and the state education ministers for their approval. Mr. Sibal said that, they want them on board so that the state engineering colleges too become part of this single entrance examination which they propose to implement by 2013.

Online Engineering Test:

The CBSE will introduce the online All India Entrance Examination for Engineering (AIEEE) in 22 cities from next year. No pen/paper exercise will be allowed in these22 centers. A successful pilot test, which was conducted last year, has led to this initiative. Also, candidates are being offered a flexible schedule of examination. The test will be conducted from May 7 to25 and the pen/ paper test will be held on April 29, 2012 in 65 centers.

CAT 2011 to see changes in format

Nearly 20 days only remaining for Common Aptitude Test (CAT) 2011, the organizers have announced some changes in the format of the exams.
From the organizers, unlike the previous editions of the exam, aspirants wanting to get into one of the 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) colleges, will have to appear for only two sections instead of three, with an additional five minutes that will help them appear for the exam in a more relaxed environment.
