Central government conducts Staff Selection Commission exam for recruitment to various offices. This exam is conducted for recruitment in Technical and Non Technical in various government organisation. SSC has already issued advertisement for invitation of application for multi-tasking (non-technical) posts. The last date for filing online application is 14 Dec. Now, without going into exam details let’s see syllabus and exam scheme.

Staff Selection Commission Multi-Tasking (non technical) staff exam scheme and syllabus is discussed below.

Exam Scheme

The Written exam is conducted in two parts.

1.Objective type (Paper-1)
2.Descriptive type (paper-2)

Paper 1: Objective type

• General Intelligence and Reasoning – 25 marks
• Numerical Aptitude – 25 marks
• General English – 50 marks
• General Awareness – 50 marks

Note : Each question carries 1 mark. The question set will be available both in English and Hindi except for General English paper. The commission also provide other language option but it completely depends upon them whether to provide or not.
There is negative marking. For every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted from your total marks. A total of 2 hours is allotted for all the four sections.

Paper 2: Descriptive type

•Short Essay/letter in English and Vernacular language – 50 marks

Note : This paper is of qualifying nature. That means only candidates shortlisted after Paper 1 will be allowed to appear for Paper 2. The duration of 30 min is allotted for Paper 2. Date for paper 2 will be communicated to candidates on individual basic.

Syllabus

Now let’s talk about Syllabus.
The questions asked in the exam are of a level that an average matriculate will be able to answer comfortably. Questions based on General Intelligence and Reasoning will be non verbal considering the functions attached to the post.

General Intelligence : It includes questions of non-verbal type. The questions will be asked on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, blood relationship, figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series etc. The questions are designed so as to test the candidates abilities to deal with abstract ideas and analytical functions.

English : The questions will be asked on grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, passage. The basic knowledge of English language will be tested.

Numerical Aptitude : The questions will be based on topics related to number system, computation, decimal and fractions, relationship between numbers, average, percentage, ratio and proportion, profit and loss, discount, graphs, tabulation, work, time and distance, etc.

General Awareness : This section is designed to test candidate’s general awareness and its application to society. Questions will be asked on current events, everyday observation and experience in the scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The questions will be asked on India and neighbouring countries on the topic of Sports, history, culture, geography, economics and Indian constitution etc.

Paper 2 : It is descriptive one where paper will be set in English and Hindi. The aim is to test language skills of the candidate commensurate with the need prescribed for the post. Candidate’s will have to write short easy/letter in English and Hindi. Candidates can also write easy in their regional language instead of Hindi.

Exam Date
The written exam will be conducted on 16 & 23 February 2014.
