Government of India is entitled for upliftment of minority community in India. It was realized long ago that road to enlightenment passes through education. In its efforts to eradicate inequality in the country government of India started providing various kinds of scholarship to students belonging to minority communities. Every year more than 20000 scholarships is distributed among the students throughout the country. This scholarship is distributed in state according to their population. Minority communities that come under the scholarship program are Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddist, Parsi. Students belonging to any of these categories can avail the benefit of scholarship.

Under the Scholarship Scheme two types of Scholarships are offered to students belonging to minority community.

1. Post Matric Scholarship

This scholarship is given to students for studying in Class XI and XII.
2. Graduation and Post Graduation Scholarship

This scholarship is given for degree and master’s degree courses.

Rules for Scholarship:

1. Student seeking to avail scholarship should have scored more than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level.

2. Student should be citizen of India.

3. He/She should belong to any one of the above mentioned community.

4. Annual income of the candidate’s family should not exceed Rs.2.5 lakh in case of degree level scholarship and Rs.2 lakh for post matric scholarship.

5. Out of total scholarship granted 30% is reserved for girls. If the quota is not fulfilled the remaining scholarships will be granted to eligible male students.

6. Number of scholarships granted to the students will depend on quota of the state irrespective of the place of study.

7. State quota is decided on the basis of minority population in the state.

Eligibility for Scholarship:

1. Students of minority community who are eligible for scholarship will be provided with financial assistance to pursue degree and post graduate degree in technical and professional courses.

2. Students studying in Private and Government colleges can avail benefit of scholarship.

3. Students will also get monthly allowance as per maintenance allowance depending on the city.

4. Students getting admission on the basis of competitive exam in technical and professional courses are also eligible for scholarship.

5. Candidates will continue to get scholarship for successive years only if they have more than 50% marks in the previous academic year and higher secondary school/college/university.

Rate of Scholarship:

The scholarship amount granted to the students depends on type of course. Scholarships provided to students for higher secondary education and degree level education is given below.

Graduate and Post Graduate Scholarship :

How to Apply?

Application in the format prescribed by the Indian Government should be submitted to Secretary of the dept. of the concerned State Govt/UT administration. The application should be submitted to the residing state. List of institutes eligible for reimbursement of full course fee.

Document Required for Application:

1. Application Form
2. One passport size photo
3. One attested copy of certificates, diploma, degree etc.
4. Income certificate in the prescribed format
5. Residence Proof
6. A receipt of scholarship if granted in the previous year.

The scholarship will be granted at the time of starting of new academic year. The monthly allowance will be given from 1 April or the starting of course whichever is earlier. If the student is already taking benefit of another scholarship scheme then he/she will not be eligible for minority scholarship scheme. In case of students receiving stipend in PG course or paid through internship in M.B.B.S such students will not received monthly allowance under the scheme.

Candidates will be evaluated every year for checking their eligibility for receiving the scholarship. Legal action will be taken against the candidates who are found guilty of producing false or altered documents for availing scholarship.
